Kalkaska, MI at Railroad Square: Summer Tour Performance

  • Railroad Square Pavilion 301 South Cedar Street kalkaska, MI 49646 (map)

The Traverse City Dance Project's second stop on its 2024 summer tour promises to be a spectacular FREE event! Located in downtown Kalkaska at the Railroad Square Pavilions, attendees are in for an afternoon of artistic brilliance and a captivating performance. In addition to the pre-show music by Jordan Hamilton and his band, there will be a FREE kids dance class for all levels and abilities at 2pm by the pavilion, taught by one of the dancers. The program boasts an impressive lineup of professional dancers showcasing new works by esteemed choreographers Matthew Neenan and Resident Choreographer Jennifer McQuiston Lott, in collaboration with composer Jordan Hamilton and musicians Grayson Nye & Andy Catlin. Additionally, audiences can look forward to a new work by Rachel Harris, a Bessie Award Nominee and Howard University's 2021 Emerging Choreographer to Watch, along with a premiere by Artistic Director Brent Whitney, promising a diverse and engaging program. Following the performance, attendees are invited to participate in a Q&A session with the dancers, musicians, choreographers, and crew, providing insight into the creative process and behind-the-scenes experiences. This promises to be a highlight event of the summer, offering a unique and unforgettable experience in the heart of downtown Kalkaska. This performance will take place rain or shine underneath the pavilion. All donations will go towards supporting the Traverse City Dance Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This event is accessible to all, but please reach out to us in advance if there are specific needs we can prepare for.
